3D Printed Masks
3D Printed PPE Mask Instructions
One of the challenges health care providers are experiencing across the nation is a shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including masks. These devices are essential to keeping people safe during this crisis.
First, let’s get the disclaimer out of the way:
This mask design is NOT a replacement for N95 respirators. This model has not been approved by any regulatory agency. Use it at your own risk if you do not have any other protection. The recommended measures to protect yourself from infection with the coronavirus COVID-19 are the following:
1. Stay home and avoid contact with other people
2. Avoid touching your face with your hands
3. Wash your hands very often
Note: This model only includes the mask structure (2 pieces) but does not include the required filter to effectively block the spread of the virus, see filter guidelines below. Also, additional measures could be required to properly fit the face without air gaps.
This design is a modification of the reusable and freely available parts files released by La Factoría 3D in Spain. The main difference between this design and the original is the addition of clips to create an improved attachment of the filter cover and the mask. Additionally, this mask has a modified pocket for the inclusion of a teardrop shaped N95 Filter (see Printing Instructions PDF for details).
